The Camping Trip

Once again the mob of drunks invaded the area known only as "The Property." They paraded around in their trucks and motorbikes carrying only the essential items: drink (water, energy drinks or beer), protection ( Guns, swords, and an inflatable Spiderman floaty), and a mission to fill and stock "The Pond." My documentation of the week is limited to a small corner of The Property where the infamous Drunken Woodpecker Corral Bar is located. My camera only appeared within the walls of this mighty structure and unfortunately that was also the last place that camera will ever take a picture. The camera only lasted until the fourth night, which might be a good thing... or not.

The Bar Scene
We start out our picture tour with a typical sight. A lovely game of Asshole.

An important story

Chillin at The Woodpecker
It is a beautiful sight, seeing everyone around the bar enjoying our one week with no obligations.

Now begins what was once a dream, and now a reality, of mine (and most likely Red's too): To fall asleep in, spend the whole next day and fall back asleep in the same bar. We did succeed. The night we began our mission we loaded the bar with everything we would need for the day, for once we went to bed we could not leave until we awoke the morning after our day in the bar. Johnny E suggested we take before and after pictures and that is where we start.

As soon as we awoke we knew we needed to get our roof up asap so the sun would not get us.

This is the last know picture our stay in the Drunkin Woodpecker Corral Bar, the time recorded by my camera says 08-14-2007 12:42 AM. But it didn't end there....

Road Trip

These are some pictures from my drive to and from Colorado last summer. I had just gotten my digital camera the day before we left so I was still experimenting and learning how to use it. So here are a couple of the pictures that I was pleased with.

Wyoming
(Drive to Colorado)
On the drive to Colorado we were on a mission to get there as fast as we could. Because of not stopping anywhere all my pictures were from the car and since it was a new camera I didn't have any pictures I liked. Except these three that I took while driving.

Colorado
(Trip home)
I was driving most of the time through Colorado so I didn't take many pictures. This one picture was from when I took a break from driving a little after we left the Rockies.

Colorado

Utah
(Trip home)
Utah is much better looking on 50 than 80 so I took more pictures on the way home. We were going through the canyons in the late afternoon and there were breaks in the weather that made some awesome pictures. The lighting was really hard for me to work with since I'm not a photographer but I made it work.

Nevada
(Trip Home)
Again I was driving most of the way through Nevada so I didn't take very many pictures. But we did stop a a petroglyph site to have a beer and go for a hike. On the hike I saw a couple of cool looking lizards and they posed for me.

A tapping at the Chewbar Brewery

I haven't put anything up in a while and I have also been giving Kevin a lot of shit for the same thing. So to not be too much of a hypocrite I dug through pictures from the past couple months and found some decent ones from the last time we hung out with James.

We had been drinking all weekend for various occasions and capped it off with James' going away party. Some were skeptical about Laurel being there but justified it by making a plan to get James shitfaced and Laurel pissed.

Could we pull it off?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
He had been brewing his own beer and liqueurs for a while. Now was a perfect time to show it off.

Questionable
This guy's name is Tim. Say hi to Tim.
He works at the local brew shop that James called home. (so he didn't have to be around Laurel) One drunken day at work he wrote a recipe for a red ale. James brewed it and Kevin is about to enjoy it. Unfortunately it was flat but, it tasted great and did the job.

You got red on you
James also had some IPA that he had made and was fermenting in bottles. He broke out a couple bottles for us to try.

Mmmmmm
Mmmmm, nothing quite beats your own brew.

Bucket o' shit beer
There was also a bucket of lesser beers for others to have who couldn't palate the stronger beers.

Bob and weave
Earlier in the night he was explaining to me his theory that because he is a photographer he knows exactly when someone is going to take a picture. So he uses this power to try and blur pictures of himself my moving his head side to side when someone tries to take a picture. You tell me if it worked.

Mead
He was also experimenting with some mead. I had never had nor heard of mead before so I wasn't too impressed but, it seemed to be a big deal.

Red on tramp 1
And then there was our adventure after everyone had left and/or gone to sleep. Red, James and I were the only soldiers left. James had some killer meat he wanted to BBQ and while he was getting that ready Red and I had found a trampoline.

Red on tramp 2
Oh and did I mention it was 2:30 in the morning at Laurel's grandma's house. So James was shitfaced, BBQing in the dark, and Laurel was mad at us as usual.
Mission: Successful

Tramp 3

Red wondered why he hurt the next day.

[note: I was loaded and don't know which of these I took and which Kevin took. But the majority are my own]

Stars v Sharks Jan. 31 2007

Several months ago I bought tickets to this game against Dallas. I knew that games against Dallas were usually good and this one did not disappoint me. I also had never sat in the lower section before so when I found these 3rd row seats at a Dallas game I was extremely excited. When I got there they turn out to be better than I had hoped in one way but kinda sucked in another.
GOOD:
On the glass behind the players bench, no one in front of me (on an aisle), got food and drink delivered.
BAD:
far from bathroom, delivered beer sucked (cost the same for less volume of good beer), if I got good beer from above lots irregularly spaced steps to walk down, could only see half the ice (our defensive side for two periods, offensive one period).
Although the bad section looks worse than the good I had an awesome time and here are some of the pictures I took. Not very many action pictures came out because you have to choose to watch the game or take pictures, you can't really do both. Most were taken during stoppage in play.

Face off
I don't know if this was the first face-off, but I figured it would be a good picture to start out with.

action shot
Although the Stars are in front of us in the picture we controlled this play.

Bench
It was wierd being so close to the players.

Brown
There was a separate, little bench that one player would sit on by himself. What player sat there seemed to keep rotating. Here is it Curtis Brown's turn.

Brown watching Cheech
Because of the little bench there was a bit of a gap between the players where I could catch a glimpse of the play in the neutral zone.

GOAL!
Celebration after our first goal.

Bench after goal
High fives from the bench.

Cheech profile
Pretty much every girl I know is in love with Cheechoo so I tried to take as many picture of him as I could for them. This is my favorite.

Cheechoo!

Cheechoo front

Action on boards
The part of the boards in front of me did see a bit of action so when the play was on my side of the ice it was good.

Smith
Mark Smith everybody.

Hannan's Ghost
This is also a favorite of mine. I didn't realize there was a pass being made nor the reflection was there. I just wanted Hannan's back.

Hannan on edge
During the long breaks in play for commercial breaks everyone either skated around to keep loose or just chilled like Hannan here.

Toskala Waterbreak
After the 3rd period I finally got a chance to get some good close shots of Toskala.

Chatting with ref
Once the regulation part of the game was over I got to see the friendly side of the refs.

Toskala's Back
Toskala returning to goal for the shoot-out that we lost the game in.

Cheese

Despite a loss, Valerie and I had an excellent time at the game.
